CRAWFORD
RETIRES WITH DROPPED VALVE...
|
The Crawford SSC2K
driven by Jan Lammers/Tony Stewart/Johnny Mowlem retired from the Rolex 24 Hours
at 1.30am with a suspected dropped valve in the Judd V10 engine. Johnny Mowlem
was driving at the time.
The car had been as
high as 3rd overall briefly and Jan Lammers set the fastest lap in
the race which still stood at the time of the retirement.
Team Owner Max
Crawford said “Naturally we’re very disappointed, all my guys worked really
hard on this project, particularly in the last couple of weeks when we changed
the rear end.
“But we proved
that the Crawford SSC2K is now a truly competitive sports racing car. We learned
a lot and we can build on this. I just want to thank everyone who was
involved.”
The Crawford SSC2Km
is the first car built by the North Carolina based Crawford & Crawford
Composites company. The company is a leading edge manufacturer of composite
parts and models for the automotive and motor sport industries.
